Overview
The Old Royal Naval College is one of London's most famous riverside landmarks and a masterpiece of Baroque architecture. The Grade I listed group of buildings, designed by Sir Christopher Wren as the Greenwich Hospital, occupy the site of the Tudor palace where Henry VIII and Elizabeth I were born. The buildings incorporate the magnificent Painted Hall by James Thornhill and the Neo classical chapel by James Stuart. The public can visit the beautiful grounds of the estate and also Discover Greenwich, a major education and interpretation centre, telling the continuing history of the Old Royal Naval College and Maritime Greenwich.
