St Barbe Museum & Art GalleryQuality Assessed
"An intriguing local museum covering the area between the Solent Coast and the New Forest."
Overview
Just off the High Street in New Street you will find St Barbe Museum and Art Gallery. This modern museum evolved through a community initiative in 1999 and documents the history of Lymington and the New Forest Coast, from prehistory to modern times. One highlight is the Boldre Hoard, 1,600 3rd-century coins uncovered near Lymington in 2014. The gallery features shows of all kinds, from local work to major exhibitions of nationally important art. There is a wonderful gift shop and exceptional cafe.
