Close to Canterbury and opposite the village church, The Dog at Wingham once formed part of a former monastery dating from the 13th century. A boutique makeover has lent the place a sympathetic 21st-century sheen, with mismatched furniture adding a rustic-chic edge to the cosy wood-panelled restaurant. Seasonal British ingredients drive the inventive cooking.
