Close to the university in a mixed retail/residential area, the Partick Duck Club is a cosy, busy place with plenty of seating, with tables all round the bar area as well. The open kitchen cooks up modern Scottish dishes with international influences. Start with crispy bolognese arancini, perhaps, followed by Barra monkfish scampi in panko breadcrumbs.

The city also had a sizeable Jewish community, and in the late 19th century, large numbers of Italians migrated to the city. About a century later, Glasgow attracted migrants from India, Pakistan and Bangladesh, and as a result you’ll find some of the best Asian food in Scotland here.
