Overview
Right at the heart of the city, the Novium Museum concentrates on the Roman history of Chichester and the surrounding area. It’s built on the site of a Roman bathhouse, so one exhibit looks at that, while another display features ‘Racton Man’, an ancient burial discovered in 1989. There are also a number of changing temporary exhibitions. Shop and cafe.

Divided from East Sussex back in 1888, West Sussex has a variety of landscapes and coastal scenery, but it is the spacious and open South Downs with which the county is most closely associated.
