The Devonshire Arms Hotel★★★★
"Fine hospitality in a beautiful countryside setting."
Overview
Dating back to the 17th century, The Devonshire Arms Hotel, owned by the Duke and Duchess of Devonshire sits pride of place in the glorious Wharfedale countryside. A long tradition of fine hospitality continues to this day, as guest's needs are accommodated in style. Bedrooms are elegantly furnished; those in the old part of the house are particularly spacious and have four-poster beds and fine antiques. The rest of the hotel is equally elegant: cosy sitting rooms display artwork from the owner's collections and the Garden Room restaurant offers excellent cuisine using fresh, seasonal produce, largely from the estate, neighbouring farms and the hotel's own kitchen garden. The Brasserie provides a more relaxed and lighter alternative with an outdoor terrace for the summer months. There is a spa to relax in too with a gym and beautiful grounds, and Bolton Abbey is only 15min walk away.

About the area
North Yorkshire, with its two National Parks and two designated Areas of Outstanding Natural Beauty, is England’s largest county and one of the most rural. This is prime walking country, from the heather-clad heights of the North York Moors to the limestone country that is so typical of the Yorkshire Dales – a place of contrasts and discoveries, of history and legend.
