Find a grown-up days out with a difference

Give yourself a break – discover a day devoted to you

Need some downtime?

Whether you have children or not, everyone needs some time when you can enjoy a day out as just adults. There are certain venues which just aren’t suitable for children, while at other places they may get bored quickly and distract you from the experience.

We are putting the spotlight on venues which make a perfect day out for adults, whether it's on your own, as a couple or a slightly larger group.

All these venues have already achieved the AA COVID Confident mark meaning you know they have put measures in place to help reduce the risk of spreading the virus.

Oatley Vineyard

This is a small, eco-friendly, family-run vineyard located in the Somerset countryside. You can taste the wines under ancient apple trees, walk the vines, picnic in the vineyard, and take some wine home. Due to Covid-19 visits are by appointment only with just one party booked at a time and 30 minutes in between groups for sanitising.

York Gin

The York Gin shop won Best Shop at Visit York’s Tourism Awards 2020. The shop provides a delightful experience for customers and not only sells gin but also locally made gifts, accessories, and clothing. Post-lockdown, York Gin has added a 'Puss & Mew' tasting contraption. This is based on the world's first vending machine used in the 1780s during the Gin Craze in London and it allows for socially distanced tasting. The expert staff provide information about gin as well as the beautiful city of York. York Gin is way more than a shop - it is an experience and tourist information point as well!

Yorkshire Trike Tours

Yorkshire Trike Tours offer a wide range of tours, within the Yorkshire Dales National Park, carrying two passengers and a chauffeur aboard an impressive motorised trike. They deliver a top quality, unique product in a very special area of the country. Customers are provided with all the clothing and equipment necessary to make their tours comfortable and given expert narration via an intercom in the helmets. The team also collaborates with the best food and accommodation providers to enrich each customer's experience.

Jurassic Coast Guides

You can enjoy professional guided walks, Jurassic Coast tours, charity walks, corporate walking events and fossil hunts anywhere along the full length of the Jurassic Coast and surrounding areas. There is so much to be discovered within this World Heritage site. Not only are there 95 miles of breath-taking coastline but delve a little deeper and you can physically 'walk through time' as it reveals 185 million years of life on earth. It showcases the three Dinosaur periods known as Triassic, Jurassic and Cretaceous. Let them guide you through time so you can experience the wonders along the way!

Sally Lunn’s Historic Eating House and Museum

This Tudor building is Bath's oldest house and was a popular 17th-century meeting place. The traditional 'Sally Lunn' is similar to a brioche, and it is popularly believed to carry the name of its inventor who came to Bath in 1680. The bun is still served in the restaurant, and the original oven, Georgian cooking range and a collection of baking utensils are displayed in the museum.

English Spirit Distillery Great Yeldham

This small batch copper distillery is looking to revolutionise the world of spirits with an unrivalled range of scratch distilled premium spirits and liqueurs. With an onsite shop and tours available you can sample their own vodka, gin, rum and more. To help manage Covid-19, all tours are arranged at times when the main production staff are offsite, reducing personal contact. A full briefing is given at the tour start along with gloves and face masks.
