Overview
In the 18th century the powerful Temple-Grenville family chose to create an idyllic landscape filled with temples. Amidst these enchanting gardens, they built the most lavish temple of them all, Stowe House. A public school since 1923, Stowe House Preservation Trust now owns the building and opens it to the public. Access to the house is via the National Trust Stowe Gardens or House only, access can be pre arranged by emailing [email protected] or telephoning 01280 818002.
