Great Orme Bronze Age Copper Mines
Overview
Browse in the visitor centre with a model of a Bronze Age village. Take a look at some original 4,000 year old artefacts and a selection of mining tools. After watching a short film take a helmet and make your way down to the mines. Walking through tunnels mined nearly 4,000 years ago look into some of the smaller tunnels and get a feel for the conditions our prehistoric ancestors faced in their search for valuable copper ores. Excavation on the surface will continue for decades and one of the team is usually available to answer visitor's questions as they walk around the site and view the prehistoric landscape being uncovered.

About the area
The majority of the population of Conwy lives along its picturesque coastline, while a third of the county falls within jaw-dropping landscape of the Snowdonia National Park. The town of Conwy, which takes its name from the county (which in turn was named after the river that runs through it), is undoubtedly one of the great treasures of Wales.
