Museum of Transport, Greater Manchester
Overview
This museum is a must-see for fans of public transport. Among the many interesting exhibits are more than 80 beautifully restored buses and coaches from the region - the biggest collection in the UK. Displays of old photographs, tickets and other memorabilia complement the vehicles, some of which date back to 1890. Please visit the website (www.gmts.co.uk) or telephone for details of special events, most of which, unsurprisingly, relate to transport in some way. At many events there is an opportunity to ride on vehicles.
