The Sir Charles Napier

"High-impact cooking and stunning gardens."
Overview
Off the beaten track, the idyllic Sir Charles Napier enjoys a peaceful countryside setting on a leafy ridge in the Chilterns. It’s a heavenly spot whatever the season: the dining room has a cossetting old-school ambience with double doors leading to a magnificent garden and a delightful terrace with sculptures, mature vines and honeysuckle. The cooking also seeks to soothe rather than jangle the senses with techno wizardry. A winter meal could kick off with rich and creamy celeriac soup ramped up with gruyère, truffle, toasted hazelnuts, pear and croûtons, followed by more seasonal comfort in the shape of malt-glazed pheasant with salt-baked parsnip, offal faggot and mulled pear.
