1863 Restaurant with Rooms
"Robust cooking in the heart of Cumbria."
Overview
Set within the Lake District National Park, a short walk from Ullswater lake where the popular Ullswater steamer docks, 1863 Restaurant with Rooms boasts a delightful position in the quiet village of Pooley Bridge. This is a family-run operation with a small bar area, a conservatory to the rear and a small garden with one large table ideal for groups. A mix of banquette seating, mini booths as well as regular tables, clocks and mirrors add to the informality and although tables are not clothed, linen napkins are used. It all adds up to create a cosy, comfortable atmosphere that is accompanied by a friendly team.

About the area
Cumbria's rugged yet beautiful landscape is best known for the Lake District National Park that sits within its boundaries. It’s famous for Lake Windermere, England’s largest lake, and Derwent Water, ‘Queen of the English Lakes', but other lesser-known areas in the south, such as the Lune Valley and the coastal towns, are secret gems of wide cobbled streets and rolling hills
