Overview
Originally a mediaeval pele tower, Dalemain was added to in Tudor times, and the imposing Georgian façade was completed in 1745. It has oak panelling, Chinese wallpaper, Tudor plasterwork and fine period furniture. The gardens include a collection of old fashioned roses, wild flower spiral, earth sculpture, a newly developed stumpery in Lob's Wood, and in early summer a magnificent display of blue Himalayan poppies. In early March, Dalemain is home to the International Marmalade Festival. Tearoom, gift shop, museum, plant sales and Dacre walk through the estate to Dacre Church.
