The Angel at Hetton
"Flawless cooking in stylish village inn."
Overview
A landmark Yorkshire Dales pub that has been a food destination for decades, The Angel at Hetton has been elevated to another level since the arrival of celebrated chef Michael Wignall. Beyond the classic coaching inn exterior is a calmly minimalist decor with a labyrinthine collection of intimate dining rooms warmed by woodburning stoves. Exposed stone, pale grey upholstery and polished concrete floors add to the informal feel, as do unclothed tables simply laid with linen napkins and stoneware place settings. This is one of the best restaurants in the country and Wignall’s sharp, precise cooking delivers layers of well-defined flavours and textures.
