Craven Museum & Gallery
Overview
The local museum depicts life from the stone age to the present in Skipton and the surrounding Craven area. One of the most remarkable exhibits is a copy of the Shakespeare First Folio from 1623. There is a gallery on the ground floor which hosts a number of changing exhibitions each year. The museum is a good place to browse, in wet or fine weather.

About the area
North Yorkshire, with its two National Parks and two designated Areas of Outstanding Natural Beauty, is England’s largest county and one of the most rural. This is prime walking country, from the heather-clad heights of the North York Moors to the limestone country that is so typical of the Yorkshire Dales – a place of contrasts and discoveries, of history and legend.
