"Watch the ocean liners from this seaside location"
Overview
At the rather chic and certainly aptly-named Seaview, the powder-blue-painted Boathouse overlooks the eastern Solent. The setting really is spectacular. Well-kept ales and an extensive global wine listing complement specials boards that make the most of freshly landed local fish. Other choices include lunchtime baguettes and sandwiches; Isle of Wight reared rump and rib-eye steaks; whole cracked crab salad; cold seafood platter for two; and the Boathouse fisherman’s pie. Children might like dishes such as sausages with chips and peas; or breaded wholetail scampi, chips, peas and home-made tartare sauce. Sea views are available in some of the stylish en suite bedrooms.

About the area
Small and intimate – at just 23 miles by 13 miles, the Isle of Wight is a popular holiday destination; with its mild climate, long hours of sunshine and colourful architecture, it has something of a continental flavour. Visitors can walk along the island’s varied coastline using the well-established Coast Path or step back in time to explore the island’s history at some of the forts and castles.
