"Chic pub and restaurant with fabulous views"
Overview
This gem overlooks the glorious tidal marshes, with views across to Scolt Head Island National Nature Reserve; the interior of The White Horse reflects the stunning vista with muted and natural colours and beach-found objects. Scrubbed pine tables and high-backed settles in the bar create a welcoming atmosphere, while alfresco dining in the sunken front garden is a popular warm-weather option, perhaps accompanied by a pint of Adnams Ghost Ship. The extensive menu in the airy conservatory restaurant (with two AA Rosettes) champions local seafood. Typically, on the menu are Brancaster mussels, garlic cream, white wine and shallots and a main of Staithe Smokehouse smoked cod, mashed potato, spinach, poached egg and cockle hollandaise.

About the area
The North Norfolk Coast is designated an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty and probably the finest of its kind in Europe. Here you’ll find a string of quaint villages and small towns – Holkham, Wells-next-the-Sea and Cley next the Sea are 21st-century favourites, while Sheringham and Cromer are classic examples of a good old-fashioned seaside resort where grand Victorian hotels look out to sea.
