Overview
The railway covers the four miles between Wells and the neighbouring village of Walsingham, and is the longest ten-and-a-quarter inch gauge track in the world. The line passes through some very attractive countryside, particularly noted for its wild flowers and butterflies. This is the home of the unique Garratt steam locomotive specially built for this line; two Garratt locos are now in service. A former Great Eastern Railways signal box is used as a tearoom at Wells.
