The Olive Branch
"Village gastro pub with luxurious bedrooms and its own shop"
Overview
Never nurdled? Remedy the omission in this pretty, pantiled pub, while engaged with a pint of Grainstore from nearby Oakham, a sloe gin or a fruity cocktail flavoured with foraged berries. Worth highlighting are the superb Norfolk and Yorkshire coast shellfish, the sea bream, monkfish and turbot from Devon and Cornwall, and the deep-water white fish from Newhaven, all delivered daily. Ever-changing menus and blackboards offer a generous choice, ranging from ham hock terrine with duck egg mayo and roast pineapple, by way of beef bourguignon, roasted onions, mushroom purée, pancetta and bone-marrow mash, to hake with curried cauliflower fritter, coriander and wild rice.
