Overview
A pretty 17th-century timber-framed former inn houses the Museum of Cambridge, one of the city’s most popular museums. A country and folkloric museum, it aims to present a glimpse of the everyday lives of the county's people from early times through to the present day, with nine room settings, including a kitchen and a playroom. There are more than 20,000 exhibits amassed from private homes. Children, especially, will love the display of toys that would have been an essential part of youngsters’ lives centuries ago. This delightful museum was founded in 1936 to help generations understand their local heritage and is particularly family friendly with plenty of hands-on experiences and games for children. There are temporary exhibitions too, talks, events and kids' activities throughout the year, plus a tea room open on Saturdays.
