Light pollution is a fact of modern life, making it hard to see the stars in the sky in their full glory. Star Safaris takes you to a place where the bright lights are far higher than the tops of the lampposts. Run by a science teacher who's also a fellow of the Royal Astronomical Society, these safaris are in interesting locations, such as High Force waterfall in the Pennines, and enable you to see the night sky in a way you may never have seen it before.
About the area
County Durham reaches halfway across England, from the North Pennines in the west, to the sea in the east. Much of it is very sparsely inhabited, and is naturally beautiful; a mix of rolling hills, monumental valleys, lush farmland and unforgiving moors.
