Overview
Set beside the River Swale, this Premonstratensian Abbey was founded in 1155 and dedicated to St Agatha. You can see extensive remains of the monks’ domestic buildings, including the gatehouse and the refectory. The parish church next door has some interesting medieval wall paintings.
