Nidderdale Museum
Overview
Everything you could want to know about life in Nidderdale is here, from the spread of religion and the development of transport to collections of cameras and razors that have been owned by local people. Some of the most enjoyable exhibits are the reconstructed cobbler’s shop, general store, milliner’s shop, joiner’s shop and solicitor’s office. All of them contain fascinating memorabilia, and the whole museum is much loved and well looked after.

About the area
North Yorkshire, with its two National Parks and two designated Areas of Outstanding Natural Beauty, is England’s largest county and one of the most rural. This is prime walking country, from the heather-clad heights of the North York Moors to the limestone country that is so typical of the Yorkshire Dales – a place of contrasts and discoveries, of history and legend.
