Downs Banks (NT)

Recommended by Visit England Logo
Overview
Downs Banks Brook is a beautiful babbling stream that runs the length of Downs Banks, and there are some far-reaching views from the highest point on the Downs. A rock pillar stands here and shows what landmarks can be seen in the distance on a clear day. The Long Mynd (National Trust), Mopw Cop Castle (National Trust,) the Wrekin (a prominent hill formed from an extinct volcano) and the Clee Hills are just some of the landmarks to look out for. From spring to autumn much of Downs Banks is grazed by a small herd of friendly cattle.
Location
Washdale Lane, Oulton Heath, STONE, ST15 8UU
About the area
Staffordshire features lofty moors, deep dales and tremendous views of both. Further south are the six sprawling towns that make up Stoke-on-Trent, which historically have had such an impact on Staffordshire’s fortunes, not to mention its culture and countryside.
