Lavenham The Guildhall of Corpus Christi
Overview
The Guildhall of Corpus Christi is one of the finest timber-framed buildings in Britain. It was built around 1530 by the prosperous Corpus Christi Guild, for religious rather than commercial reasons. The hall now houses a local history museum telling stories of people who have shaped the fortunes of the Guildhall and the Medieval villlage of Lavenham. There is also a tranquil garden.

About the area
Suffolk is Constable country, where the county’s crumbling, time-ravaged coastline spreads itself under wide skies to convey a wonderful sense of remoteness and solitude. Highly evocative and atmospheric, this is where rivers wind lazily to the sea and notorious 18th-century smugglers hid from the excise men.
