Claremont Pier

Recommended by Visit England Logo
Overview
The Claremont Pier was originally built in Victorian times when it was almost obligatory for all seaside resorts to have at least one pier, but a few gales over the years have meant that sections have been replaced. Today, it has a plethora of attractions to suit all tastes, from the Fun Palace amusement arcade and Palace Casino to a contemporary wood strip roller-skating rink known as Rollers. There are a couple of bars and a music venue.
Location
Wellington Esplanade, LOWESTOFT, NR33 0QN
About the area
Suffolk is Constable country, where the county’s crumbling, time-ravaged coastline spreads itself under wide skies to convey a wonderful sense of remoteness and solitude. Highly evocative and atmospheric, this is where rivers wind lazily to the sea and notorious 18th-century smugglers hid from the excise men.
