Walk directions

From the car park, head out of the gate at the top and proceed towards the castle. As you reach the part-white building on the right, turn right through a gate on to a footpath. Follow this diagonally leftwards, down to join the fence on the left-hand side of the field and down to a kissing gate that leads on to a road. Turn left and pass a footpath on your right to head around a left-hand bend. Before you reach the house on the right, turn right through a gate and walk down the centre of the field to a stile. Cross this to drop steeply down to another stile and across the field to a footbridge over the River Cennen.

Cross the bridge and climb steeply up towards the left-hand hedge where you cross an iron stile. Continue upwards, along the fence, to the top of the field where you bear right to follow it around, beneath Llwyn-bedw farm. This leads to an opening where you join an obvious farm track and bear right. Follow this across a cattle grid and over a shallow ford to another cattle grid. Climb up a short hill and, at the top, turn left over a stile. Follow the edge of the field and climb a stile. Cross the small stream and bear right up a stony track to a stile. Cross this, then the adjacent stile by the caving notice, to follow a narrow path down to the source of the River Loughor. This is an enchanted spot with the infant river gushing to freedom from the cave that imprisoned it for the formative stages of its life. Return to the two stiles and turn right, back on to the footpath, to continue past a ruined lime kiln on the left. Follow the track up and around to the left where it peters out into open pasture. Continue straight ahead between two huge dips in the ground to a stile, then bear half right, keeping a fenced-off shake hole to the left, to a stile and a narrow road.
