WWT Welney Wetland CentreQuality Assessed
"The beautiful wetlands are home to a massive wealth of wildlife."
Overview
WWT Welney has a beautiful wetland reserve and eco-friendly visitor centre. Every season is different; in spring watch breeding birds and chicks. In summer see dragonflies, butterflies, and wildflowers out on the summer walk. In winter the Ouse washes are home to thousands of whooper and Bewick’s swans, the largest gathering in the UK. Amazing events throughout the year and brilliant café for refuelling! Open every day except Christmas day, see website for opening times.
About the area
To the west of East Anglia is Cambridgeshire, a county best known as the home to the university that makes up the second half of ‘Oxbridge’ (the other half is Oxford). As well as its globally renowned educational credentials, it also has a rich natural history; much of its area is made up of reclaimed or untouched fens.
