"Large wetland beneath big Suffolk skies."
Overview
RSPB Lakenheath Fen Nature Reserve comprises a mixture of wetland and woodland south of the Little Ouse. An area of arable farmland has been converted into a large wetland, consisting mainly of reedbeds and grazing marshes. The reedbeds attract hundreds of reed warblers, bearded tits, turtle doves, bitterns and marsh harriers. In winter, teal and whooper swans can be spotted.

About the area
Suffolk is Constable country, where the county’s crumbling, time-ravaged coastline spreads itself under wide skies to convey a wonderful sense of remoteness and solitude. Highly evocative and atmospheric, this is where rivers wind lazily to the sea and notorious 18th-century smugglers hid from the excise men.
