"Close to Hadrian’s Wall"
Overview
Demesne Farm Campsite was created in 1972, after the village bobby encouraged the farmer to provide walkers on the Pennine Way with somewhere to stay. Still a working farm, although its traditional Northumbrian stone and slate barn has been converted into the Bunkhouse. The village of Bellingham (Bellin-jum to locals) has restaurants, pubs and traditional shops.

About the area
If it’s history you’re after, there’s heaps of it in Northumberland. On Hadrian’s Wall you can imagine scarlet-cloaked Roman legionaries keeping watch for painted Pictish warriors while cursing the English weather and dreaming of home.
