"Former cider mill in an unrivalled location"
Overview
Occupying a stunning position on the east bank of the River Wye, The Saracens Head can be reached by the inn’s own ferry, which still operates by hand, just as it has for the past 200 years. There’s a relaxed atmosphere throughout the 16th-century inn, from the bar (serving Wye Valley ales), the cosy lounge and stylish dining room, and two sunny terraces overlooking the Wye. If you come at lunchtime, try beer-battered haddock; lamb, rosemary and red onion burger with celeriac rémoulade, gentleman's relish and home-made chips; or pan-seared polenta cake with mushroom velouté, wild mushrooms, wild rocket and vegetarian parmesan. Complete your meal with one of the home-made desserts on the blackboard. A stay in one of the ten en suite bedrooms is a must if you’re exploring this area.

About the area
Herefordshire is split in two by the River Wye which meanders through the county on its way to the Severn and the sea. Largely rural, with Hereford, Leominster, and Ross-on-Wye the major towns and cities, its countryside and ancient villages are the county’s major asset.
