"A very well-maintained and presented property with welcoming owners."
Overview
The Hollies is a 'Victorian Gentlemen's Residence' fully refurbished in 2015, offering both B&B and self-catering accommodation in the form of two double/twin ensuite B&B rooms. There are three acres of grounds with woodland, pond and wild flower meadows and also views of the Lake District and Northern Pennines. Blending homely Victorian elegance with modern facilities, this is a perfect base to explore the local area, not least because there's a boot room and secure cycle storage. Do try the locally sourced Westmorland breakfast. Plus, dogs are welcome, and there's off-road parking.

About the area
Cumbria's rugged yet beautiful landscape is best known for the Lake District National Park that sits within its boundaries. It’s famous for Lake Windermere, England’s largest lake, and Derwent Water, ‘Queen of the English Lakes', but other lesser-known areas in the south, such as the Lune Valley and the coastal towns, are secret gems of wide cobbled streets and rolling hills.
