Truro Cathedral

Recommended by Visit England Logo
Overview
One of Cornwall's most stunning buildings, Truro Cathedral is all spires and Gothic romance. Built from fine Cornish granite, hewn from nearby quarries, this heavenly structure is a living testament to the many people who made this wonderful vision possible. The impressive West Front greets visitors and invites them into a world of Cornish saints, choral music, stained glass, prayer, worship and organ music. Don't miss the stunning Victorian neo-Gothic architecture; fabulous stained glass including the three Rose windows, the Wesley window and the curious story of the blue glass; the Cornish saints painting, Cornubia, Land of the Saints by John Miller; the unusual church within a church; the fascinating altar piece of Christ both crucified and seated in majesty; a series of four Calvary paintings by Craigie Aitchison and much, much more. There are free guided tours, and free lunchtimes concerts (on Fridays) from March to October, a restaurant serving cream teas, and a gift shop offering plenty of local produce.
