Overview
This unique Modernist home was designed by architect Ernö Goldfinger in 1939 for himself and his family. With surprising design details that were ground-breaking at the time and still feel fresh today, the house also contains the Goldfingers' impressive collection of modern art, (including works by Max Ernst, Marcel Duchamp, Bridget Riley and Henry Moore) intriguing personal possessions and innovative furniture. If you were wondering if there is a connection between this Goldfinger and the Bond villain, there is. Ian Fleming disliked was so incensed by the demolition of old cottages to make way for 2 Willow Road, that he used the architect’s name for one of his most memorable bad guys. Entry is by guided tour during the first part of the day for conservation reasons. Tours are at 11am, 12pm, 1pm and 2pm. Places are limited and are available on the day at the door on a first-come first-served basis and cannot be booked in advance.
