Overview
In splendid grounds beside Hampstead Heath, this outstanding neo-classical house contains one of the most important collections of paintings ever given to the nation. Works by Rembrandt, Vermeer, Turner, Gainsborough and Reynolds are all set against a backdrop of sumptuous rooms. Scenes from Notting Hill and Mansfield Park were filmed here. The house is undergoing extensive renovations and will be closed until October 2013, but the cafe and grounds remain open.
