Coleham Pumping Station
Overview
One of Britain's lesser-known pumping stations. Built at the very end of the 19th century and opened in 1901. Two massive steam-driven beam engines, built by Renshaws of Stoke on Trent and powered by Cornish Boilers. The engines are housed in an impressive late Victorian building. Decommissioned in 1970, the station has been refurbished by volunteers, operating the facility on behalf of Shrewsbury Museum Services.

About the area
Perhaps nowhere else in England will you find a county so deeply rural and with so much variety as Shropshire. Choose a clear day, climb to the top of The Wrekin, and look down on that ‘land of lost content’ so wistfully evoked by A E Housman.
