Face Carisbrooke Priory, turn left out of the car park and follow the road for 220yds (201m). Take the first footpath on the left (opposite Carisbrooke Business Park) and veer left past a gate after a few paces, climbing gently through the trees. On reaching the magnificent ruins of Carisbrooke Castle, bear left and follow the path alongside the castle walls.

Turn left at the car park and follow the public footpath, signposted towards Millers Lane, until you reach Clatterford Shute. Turn right, keep left at the fork with Millers Lane and continue for 50yds (46m) to a kissing gate on the left.
