The Model Village

Recommended by Visit England Logo
Overview
The Model Village is a fascinatingly intricate one-ninth-scale replica of the centre of Bourton-on-the-Water. The best bit (or, depending on the viewer, the bit most likely to provoke some level of existential confusion)? There’s a model village within the model village. Mini Bourton took local craftsmen five years to build and was opened in 1937, on the Coronation Day of King George VI and Queen Elizabeth.
Features

  • Opening Times
  • Opening Times: Open daily 10–6 (4 in winter)
Location
Old New Inn, Rissington Road, BOURTON-ON-THE-WATER, GL54 2AF
About the area
Gloucestershire is home to a variety of landscapes, including the Cotswolds, a region of gentle hills, valleys and gem-like villages that roll through the county. To their west is the Severn Plain, watered by Britain’s longest river and characterised by orchards and farms marked out by hedgerows that blaze with mayflower in the spring; beyond the Severn are the Forest of Dean and the Wye Valley.
